Ignoring the tactical dilemma, Rem swiftly kills Lowell by throwing an axe into his forehead and proceeds to brutally execute several other enemy soldiers by smashing their faces into the ground. The remaining Aspen soldiers flee via speed boats. Although Rem's violent efficiency prevents a massacre, his brutal methods fail to boost the allies' morale, instead causing fear among them. Meanwhile, at the rear, Encrid tends to his wounds, anticipating his eventual reunion with the platoon and hoping their combat prowess will eventually stabilize the plummeting morale of the battlefield.
