Early in the morning, Encrid is approached at the parade ground by Battalion Commander Marcus, a creature named Frog, and a woman named Asia. Asia initiates a high-intensity combat test, unleashing an onslaught of sword strikes and intense aura. Despite facing overwhelming pressure and the instinctual urge to retreat, Encrid refuses to back down, driven by his conviction to become a Knight. The combat ends when Frog intervenes, and Asia reveals herself as a Knight-in-training of the Red Cape Knights. Encrid loses consciousness and briefly encounters the Ferryman in a dream-like state, where the Ferryman teases him about skipping training. Upon waking, Encrid is caught by his platoon members. Frog, acting as a talent identifier, assesses Encrid's potential alongside Marcus and Asia. Despite Encrid's obvious talent, both Asia and Frog conclude he does not currently possess the qualities of a Knight. Frog also extends an offer to Ragna Zaun, who declines. The meeting concludes with Asia departing for the capital and Frog deciding to stay for a few more days to observe the group.
