As the enemies retreat, Krais and other villagers defend the walls by dropping rocks and firing arrows, a plan Krais coordinated. Encrid returns to the group, calm and composed, offering a flimsy excuse that he was merely performing a morning workout and recognized the enemies as cultists. Despite the suspicious nature of his story, the villagers accept him as a hero. Krais and Esther discuss Encrid's insanity, and a local craftsman jokingly suggests naming the new wall 'Madman Encrid Wall.' Meanwhile, Luagarne (Frog) investigates a suspected cultist who had been following Deutsche. She identifies him using a translucent protective barrier, but the priest uses high-speed movement and summoning magic to escape her pursuit. After a day-long chase, Luagarne loses the cultist but returns to the village to find the aftermath of the battle and Encrid standing amidst the blood-soaked grounds.
