During the day, he interacts with Jaxon, using the repetitions to learn how to listen more effectively and even using a fake backstory about a grandfather to explain his skills. After approximately fifty-six repetitions, Encrid's training pays off when he successfully hears a subtle sound indicating an approaching assassin. An assassin attacks him in his tent with a blade and poisoned needles. Encrid uses the 'deceiving breath' technique to feign exhaustion, creating an opening to slash through the tent wall to escape. However, he is met by the fairy company commander, who deflects his attack and pins him down with poisoned needles. To his surprise, the commander and Krang appear to be on the defending side. The assassin flees the scene, and the commander, expressing surprise, asks Encrid if he is alive after witnessing the intense struggle.
