In this realm, he is attacked by a silent, armored figure with blue flames for eyes. The opponent's swordsmanship is highly advanced, and Encrid finds that his 'Heart of Great Strength' is ineffective. The armored figure delivers a fatal blow to Encrid's abdomen and strikes his cheek, causing him to experience the sensation of death. Encrid immediately snaps back to reality, having experienced the entire combat in less than a minute. While the others check on him, Luagarne examines the gray barrier and the sword, eventually theorizing that the true treasure can only be seen by someone who has died dozens of times.
