Ragna, however, offers to demonstrate it through combat. After a brief exchange of insults between Rem and Jaxon, Encrid and Ragna move outside to duel with wooden swords. Ragna demonstrates his 'Will' through a technique called 'Severance,' moving with such speed that he cuts Encrid's wooden sword in two. Ragna explains that 'Will' is an invisible power forged from willpower that must be awakened rather than taught, often through a 'rite' provided by the Knights. He notes that rebelling against this rite is a way to master 'Will' independently. Encrid realizes that his own repetitive cycle of 'today' serves as a unique rite, providing him with the opportunity to grasp what others struggle to find.
