After several days of hunger and anxiety, Encrid, Krais, and a frail, big-eyed individual (implied to be a Fairy) arrive to interrogate him. Following Krais's suggestion that a Frog's desire can be used for interrogation, Maelrun reveals that he was hired by a merchant named Fromshell, who runs an Information Guild, to obtain a specific powder.
