Ragna, barely clinging to life, repeatedly urges Encrid to run. Refusing to let his comrades die and hoping to trigger a time loop, Encrid accepts the Knight's blade through his heart. Upon dying, Encrid finds himself at the black river. The Ferryman, holding a violet lantern, confronts him regarding the three trials: agony, ignorance, and despair. The Ferryman tells him to endure the Knight's sword and to savor the despair.
