He successfully breaks the first flagpole, though he struggles with the timing of his commands to his allies. He continues his mission, breaking the second, third, and fourth flagpoles over several days of intense combat, often relying on his ability to navigate the fog and his improved combat skills. During these battles, he works alongside Rem, who enters a berserk state to clear paths for him. Finally, Encrid reaches the innermost flag unit. As he stealthily approaches the final flagpole, he is intercepted by Mitch Hurrier, a squad leader from the Duchy of Aspen. Mitch, who has been waiting for a chance to kill Encrid, is frustrated by Encrid's complete lack of recognition. The chapter concludes with the two engaging in a fierce sword duel, with Mitch noting Encrid's significantly improved skill.
