At dawn, the two armies prepare for battle on a wide-open plain. Encrid prepares himself by adjusting his gear, including his three swords: Silver, Ember, and a shortened Gladius. As the armies face each other, Rem, Ragna, Jaxon, and Dunbachel join Encrid. Rem notes the cloudy sky and expresses a bloodthirsty anticipation for the coming battle, noting that the enemy's one-day delay allowed the allied forces time to prepare and rest. The battle begins with a massive volley of arrows from both sides. The enemy initiates a cavalry charge, but the allied infantry successfully holds their line using a pike wall, resulting in heavy casualties for the attackers. The enemy then deploys a unit of fifty mounted archers to target the allied commanders. Asia leads a group of Squires in a swift counter-charge, successfully cutting down many of the mounted archers. As the infantry engagement intensifies, Rem rushes into the fray to engage enemy soldiers. Ragna moves to a flank, cutting through enemy infantry with lethal efficiency. Jaxon begins targeting enemy Sub-Commanders who are attempting to infiltrate the allied lines. Encrid advances toward the enemy lines and is confronted by a massive Giant named Benukt. The two engage in a powerful clash, with Encrid observing that the Giant is not as formidable as his size suggests.
