Molsen intends to connect his world of spells to reality to unleash a horde of wraiths that will drive the soldiers to madness and death. Esther sends a fragment of her Will to Encrid to warn him of this scheme. Meanwhile, Encrid defeats the Giant Benukt using precise, methodical strikes. He finds himself surrounded by terrified soldiers who are being used as sacrificial lambs by the Count. As Encrid moves through the enemy lines, he encounters Lierbart. Encrid provokes Lierbart, and the two engage in a fierce duel. Encrid utilizes a combination of Whistle Daggers, the Tangum Style, and a Breathless World to overwhelm Lierbart's stamina. Encrid successfully pierces Lierbart's abdomen with a fiery thrust, but Lierbart manages to strike Encrid with his shield in a final counterattack. As Lierbart lies wounded and near death, he cryptically asks Encrid how one becomes a Knight.
