This observation leads Kreise to realize the immense military strength of the Empire. Following Bianca, a merchant from the Southern Great Nation, Rihinstetten, arrives and offers Encrid marriage to a princess, which Kreise dismisses by claiming Encrid is extremely picky about beauty. Meanwhile, Encrid reflects on the formation of his Knight order and the necessity of individual desire over forced membership. He interviews Rem, who proposes a grueling training method involving running while carrying heavy, unbalanced iron axes. Encrid approves of the idea but questions Rem's ultimate goals beyond the destruction of the Demon Realm. When Rem questions his status as Deputy Commander, Encrid informs him that no such rank exists, as he refuses to create positions that might cause discord within the order.
