Rem, Encrid, Krais, Audin, Jaxon, and Ragna enter a building where they are ambushed by members of a crime guild. Rem swiftly and ruthlessly kills five ambushers, including one hiding in the ceiling and others near a passageway. After clearing the first floor, the group discovers a hidden tunnel beneath a rug in the reception area. They follow the tunnel upward to a clearing where they are confronted by approximately thirty well-armed criminals led by an aristocratic-looking man with a jeweled cane. The man denies involvement in the recent ambush on Encrid. Encrid, seeking to avoid unnecessary slaughter, draws his sword and draws a line in the ground, offering the criminals a chance to surrender if they do not wish to die. The criminals mock him, and no one crosses the line. To demonstrate his strength, Encrid challenges the group and engages a former mercenary in a duel. Encrid kills the challenger with a single, decisive strike, instantly shifting the atmosphere and asserting his dominance over the remaining criminals.
