After waking up, he is approached by the stitching unit's Squad Leader, who asks him to investigate a shoemaker's shop due to concerns about the craftsman. Encrid initially hesitates but decides to go. Upon arriving, he finds the shoemaker's daughter, a freckled young woman, at the shop. She explains that her father went into a hole discovered under the shop. Encrid enters the hole to find the craftsman, but as he attempts to stop the man from stepping into a passage, a magic trap triggers a massive explosion, killing Encrid, the craftsman, and the daughter. Encrid wakes up again at the start of the day. Haunted by the deaths of the innocent civilians, he decides he cannot ignore the situation and must break the cycle. He returns to the shoemaker's shop and finds the craftsman alive and working. Encrid helps the craftsman open the hole and descends into the passages alone to avoid further casualties. He navigates the first passage safely but feels a growing sense of foreboding. As he enters the second passage, he is joined by the craftsman, who asks what he is doing. Encrid warns him to stay back, but as he takes another step, a second explosion occurs, killing him once again. Encrid realizes the traps are triggered by movement and prepares to face the next day.
