Chapter 48 — Dropped into Murim with an Instant Kill Skill
Chapter 48
Yi Yu-baek executes a bandit expert with a flash of his sword, then confronts Hang Inwoo while utilizing Willow Leaf Steps and True Flame to accelerate his movement. He is surrounded by three saber wielders, including Hang Inwoo, and takes a severe internal injury after clashing with their sabers, causing his meridians to burst and his stage of maturity to falter. An arrow from Jin Geol strikes toward Hang Inwoo, distracting him and allowing Yi Yu-baek to evade further attacks. Yi Yu-baek identifies the archer as a young man in patched clothes and realizes it may be Yeon So-wol, fearing for his safety. Meanwhile, Jin Geol, initially intending to watch the spectacle, hires a filthy laborer to deliver a warning message to Yeon So-wol. Jin Geol then takes a defensive position in a tree, firing arrows to support Yi Yu-baek. His position is compromised when bandits discover him; he fires his remaining arrows but lacks the lightness art to escape, forcing him to draw his saber and shout provocations to cover his retreat. A middle-aged man with graying hair, identified as Shin Jae-eon, appears and severs the waists of three bandits with mere sword qi. Shin Jae-eon refuses Hang Inwoo’s offer to ally with him or Heavenly Road Mountain, citing Hang Inwoo’s betrayal of Yi Yu-baek as a sign of untrustworthiness. Hang Inwoo retorts that he was tired of living under Yi Yu-baek's shadow, causing the sect leader to sneer in disgust as the battle pauses.
