Chapter 220

The chapter details the legend of the 'Man in the Screen,' a male entity with black eyes and a wide, toothy smile that appears in various variety show broadcasts. Originally, he was only noticed in re-edited versions of shows, such as Episode 166 of a talk show. As he became more visible, he appeared increasingly aggressive and strange. While production staff tried to delete him from footage, the entity became more violent, eventually leading to a tragic incident at a former broadcasting station (PBS) where two employees committed suicide in the editing room. The suicide note, written in incoherent scribbles, reportedly contained messages like 'He does not want to be deleted' and 'He is angry.' In the present, Lee Seonghae and the Field Exploration team (including Kang Yihak) are called to the modern MBS station to deal with a resurgence of this phenomenon in the variety department. The PD of the variety department is terrified, as the 'Man in the Screen' has begun appearing again. Upon inspecting the editing room, Kang Yihak determines the entity is a spiritually potent object (Grade C-D) that requires three days of isolation. Kang Yihak uses the opportunity to charge the PD an exorbitant fee, accepting gold and cash as payment. After the PD leaves, Kang Yihak successfully extracts extra profit by attempting to 'pay' the entity in gold. The chapter concludes with a warning: the entity has moved from the closed PBS to the active MBS, and he is currently watching through the camera lenses.
