While cleaning a storage room, Kim Soleum encounters the Story Usurper from the Church of the Luminous Unknown, which has taken the form of a young man in an orange cleaning uniform. The entity attempts to mimic Kim Soleum's appearance and tone, trying to convince Security Sergeant J3 that Kim Soleum is the imposter. Kim Soleum warns J3 not to engage with the entity and to instead reject it. J3 acts on this advice; a massive, shadowy wolf-like claw emerges from J3's arm and strikes, decapitating the doppelgänger instead of Kim Soleum. The chapter ends with Kim Soleum collapsing to the ground, drenched in the entity's blood.
