Inside the bizarre Looky Mart, Kim Soleum and Agent Bronze hide from 'employees'—bizarre, balloon-like entities that waddle through the dark aisles. Kim Soleum is currently covering the mouth of a terrified high schooler to prevent him from screaming. The employees mimic human behavior, greeting shoppers with scripted phrases, but their presence is eerie. Kim Soleum realizes their gear is insufficient for a post-closing survival scenario. Noticing the escalator is still running, Agent Bronze decides they must escape before the store officially closes. They dash through the aisles, dodging shoppers and heading for the exit. However, they are blocked at the first-floor entrance by a 'ghost': a two-dimensional, reanimated cardboard standee of a smiling middle-aged man that is visibly distressed and begging for help. The chapter ends with the group facing this monstrosity.
