The conversation is interrupted by Kwak Jaekang, who attempts to lure the children away with promises of snacks and seeing their parents. The children, sensing Kwak's harmful nature, instinctively hide behind Lee Jaheon. Once Kwak leaves, the tension eases, and Lee leads the children back to the lab. Shortly after, backup from the Disaster Management Bureau arrives. The Research Team is forced to step back, though they manage to collect tissue samples from the 'mer-children' and Kim's own flesh. The children are safely transported to headquarters, cleaned, and fed. Kim's body is restored to its adult male form via the dokkaebi flame.
