Kim Yo-han and Lee Mun-ryong observe a young wizard with the yellow-covered Grimoire The King in Yellow fighting mercenaries outside a theater. The wizard, Kim Se-geon, fumbles but wields wind magic until a Gnome slashes his ankle, stopping his escape. Yo-han approaches calmly, treats the ankle with a spell, and introduces himself. Se-geon reveals his name and his goal: to find his mother, Han Se-yeong. In a parallel scene at a vampire hideout, Han Se-yeong confronts Yoannis, claiming her dead husband's inheritance—a Grimoire. Yoannis offers her vampire blood or death; she drinks and transforms, becoming a vampire. Later, in a dormitory cafeteria, Se-geon's half-sister Kim Seol-a is shown as a vegetarian, haunted by childhood cannibalistic feasts. Se-geon, now resolved, asks Yo-han to teach him how to survive in the magical world, and Yo-han accepts under the blue moon.
