Kim Ga-eun, a broker posing as a freelance journalist, investigates the God's Healing Campground toxic-gas site, suspecting a third party killed the necromancer Edward Coffin. Concluding that the grimoire Lemegeton's owner must have been present, she targets survivor Kim Yo-han. She ambushes a male survivor in an alley, breaks his finger to extract information, and learns Yo-han performed a ritual that destroyed Edward's zombies. Ga-eun then breaks into Yo-han's apartment, chanting ritual words, but Yo-han returns, impales her with Grizzly's transparent arm for entering with shoes on, and instructs the familiar to dispose of the body in the bathroom. Ga-eun's body is searched for information while Yo-han prepares a soul-summoning ritual for Saturday.
