Disgusted by the thin stack, the Reader confronts the 335 authors in the lobby, furious that only 12 wrote 91 chapters total. The authors defend their laziness with excuses about writer's block, the need for a familiar environment, and sinus issues, while the Reader notes they have gained significant weight. He dismisses their complaints as plausible but suspicious, especially since many were serializing existing works, yet he grants them one more month, allowing them to indulge in the hotel’s casino and luxury amenities. When the next deadline arrives, production drops to 75 chapters. Realizing the comfortable environment is enabling their sloth, the Reader consults an expert. The expert bluntly states the problem is that the environment is 'too good.'
