Chapter 237

Noh Do-hwa and the Undertaker discuss Village Bus No. 44, an anomaly extracting organs. Do-hwa remains coldly pragmatic, noting the bus’s utility despite its gruesome nature. The Undertaker explains the anomaly’s nature through historical precedents: the WWII Gaswagen, a mobile gas chamber, and the Chinese Execution Bus, which used lethal injections to preserve organs for harvest. They theorize Village Bus No. 44 combines these elements, possibly targeting communists due to Nazi influence, while integrating Chinese methods. To test this, they conduct an experiment using Prisoner No. 37, who is coerced by Do-hwa into approaching the bus while shouting from the Communist Manifesto. The bus accelerates to 300 km/h, obliterating the prisoner instantly, confirming the vehicle's lethal speed and violent impact. The Undertaker then moves to the Mo Gwang-seo Christ Cathedral in Pyongyang to test a different theory: using the bus to process Mo Gwang-seo, the living god of the Eastern Holy Nation, to cure incurable diseases. After bribing Sim Ah-ryeon with a fan meeting, they kidnap Mo Gwang-seo and throw him into the sealed bus. The bus repeatedly kills and resurrects Mo Gwang-seo in a burst of light and blood. The Undertaker monitors patients via the Saintess, who reports rapid healing, particularly for blind patients, but soon warns of anomalies: six terminal patients are sprouting halos and wings, transforming into angels, and accelerating toward Pyongyang at high speed. The Undertaker destroys the bus with a slash of dark energy to stop the transport. Immediately, six angelic Anomalies—massive clusters of wings surrounding a central eyeball—attack the bunker, firing lasers. The Undertaker effortlessly bisects the first angel with a silent dark energy slash, reducing it to feathers. Despite the victory, the Undertaker resolves never to use the bus again. After calming the panicked populace with Ah-ryeon’s divine presence, the Undertaker consults the Saintess, who confirms the six transformed patients had fatal Void injuries. They conclude that while Mo Gwang-seo’s organs cure disease, exceeding a certain threshold of transplantation triggers a complete transformation into a Mo Gwang-seo clone or angel. The true nature of the anomaly is revealed as the Organ Transfer Bus, designed to transport the internal organs themselves rather than the passengers.
