Chapter 269 — I'm an Infinite Regressor, But I've Got Stories to Tell
Chapter 269
The chapter opens with rumors among a post-apocalyptic survivor community regarding a legendary mobile city called Neo-Busa, described as humanity's last sanctuary. Skepticism prevails due to the unreliability of the Global SOS Board and the absurdity of a human-built moving city. Suddenly, the community is ambushed by the Sky Fleet, airborne battleships that had previously devoured London and Paris. The survivors, exhausted and despairing, prepare to accept instant death by the fleet's death rays, viewing it as a merciful end to their suffering. Just as annihilation seems imminent, a beam of light strikes the fleet, revealing a massive land-based fortress arriving from the horizon, marked by a plume of black smoke. This is the Ark City, a quadrupedal mobile fortress deploying flying robots to engage the Sky Fleet in aerial combat. The survivors, hiding in trenches, watch in shock and eventual jubilation as the human technology dismantles the anomalous threats. The Ark City's exterior bears text identifying it as a fortress and the 'Humanity's Final Defense Ark City,' though only 'BusaN' is clearly recognized. As the battle turns in humanity's favor, a choir sings from the Ark City, and a crimson ace robot departs to finish the remaining enemies with superior prowess. After the battle, the crimson ace approaches the survivors. The cockpit opens to reveal two pilots: a young man and a legless young girl. The man asks for directions to the west in fluent Turkish. After receiving guidance, he informs the survivors that the area is unsafe and they should evacuate eastward. When asked why they are heading west toward the danger, the man states their intent to kill the Anomalies in a final battle for humanity, acknowledging they will not win but must demonstrate human strength. The pilots depart westward. Aboard the Ark City, two individuals, Ha-yul and their companion, high-five, discussing the 'romance' of the pilots. Do-hwa, waiting in the control room, mutters her disapproval of their immature behavior, noting it is summer.
