Chapter 93

The narrator, identified as the Undertaker, reflects on the difficulty of narrating his recent victory over an Outer God-class anomaly, noting that the experience defies simple description. As red starlight with the viscosity of water crashes down around them like a tsunami, the narrator holds hands with Cheon Yo-hwa. She urgently advises him to remain grounded, warning that the Infinite Void anomaly will attempt to dissolve his identity through illusions and sensory overload. She emphasizes that the anomaly's laughter is a tool to isolate humans in a liminal space between samsara and nirvana, a realm of deception where time and space are unreliable. Cheon Yo-hwa instructs the narrator to find the 'nail' holding the illusion in place—the unique abnormality among the normal—and eliminate it to break the spell. Upon dismissing the illusion, the setting shifts to a cedar forest where the narrator and Cheon Yo-hwa are suddenly on a miniature three-carriage steam train, the 'Hogwarts Express,' ridden by Dang Seo-rin. Dang Seo-rin, wearing a witch's hat, complains about the broken railway and uses magic and song to repair it instantly, revealing the entire train is sustained by her illusion magic. She reveals their plan to travel the world, starting with the Trans-Siberian Railway, expressing a lifelong dream of exploring the globe. The narrator responds with a vision of their future journey, detailing how they will share the train cars, with him defeating anomalies and her using magic to maintain the track. He reveals he is a regressor and vows to restore the world before they can truly travel, a promise postponed by the intervention of 'Old Man Scho' (Emit Schopenhauer). They joke about freezing oceans to create ice railways and following the Titanic's route. Dang Seo-rin questions if she is merely an AI-like illusion of the anomaly replicating her, but the narrator reaffirms their bond, stating that life is a dream regardless. The illusion then shifts again, transporting Cheon Yo-hwa into an elementary school setting where she experiences five years of childhood in an instant. She identifies her deceased mother as the 'nail' of the illusion. Returning to the void, Cheon Yo-hwa realizes she has been in a 'route' where the anomaly attempts to replace her existence with a substitute self. The narrator explains that distance is meaningless here, governed only by the anomaly's rules. Using a ritualistic spell to turn the concept of death into the reality of four steps, he takes Cheon Yo-hwa's hand. They move forward together into the void, leaving the previous state behind.
