Chapter 1 — Regression Is Too Much

Kim Jun-ho wakes up in a forest clearing alongside a large crowd of confused humans. A winged tutorial fairy appears, mockingly greeting them before explaining that humanity must climb the Tower to avoid extinction. After the fairy vanishes, the crowd begins whispering and panicking. A man loudly shouts 'status window,' successfully triggering a system interface, which prompts others to try the same. Kim Jun-ho accesses his own window and discovers he possesses the EX-rank Regression ability, which allows him to return to the start of any floor upon death. Excited by this power, he impulsively runs into the nearby undergrowth to test it but immediately takes a minor cut from sharp leaves. The damage triggers an automatic regression, snapping him back to the exact moment he first woke up in the clearing. Confused and realizing that even a tiny scratch forces him back to the start, Jun-ho grimly understands that escaping the clearing will be extremely difficult.
