Chapter 26 — Regression Is Too Much

Chapter 26

The chapter depicts the climax of the battle against the Minotaur. Players push a protective barrier through a toxic swamp, counting down until the barrier sinks and seals the monster. The Goblin Shaman, who aided them, releases the final seal and collapses from exhaustion. After the Minotaur is defeated, the exhausted players return, celebrating their victory and praising the protagonist. The protagonist approaches the Shaman, who accepts his impending death and gives him a voice pebble. As the protagonist prepares to kill the Shaman to open the portal, the creature vanishes in an illusion, revealing he stole the Golden Marbles and escaped into the swamp. The players realize they have been tricked, and the portal appears in the toxic swamp instead of a safe location.
