Chapter 115 — The Tale of Cultivation and Demon Extermination

Chapter 115

After fleeing Pungnyu City, Ise rests in a snow-covered hiding spot and tends to the wounded Ryu Seonghan, feeding him a Regeneration Pellet and cleansing him with his arts. Ryu Seonghan awakens, learns the city has fallen, and breaks down weeping before thanking Ise for saving him. He explains the conspiracy: the Yun Clan and the Essence-Draining Ghost-Demon Valley carved up Pungnyu City, and the Heavenly Ice Palace's strict non-interference policy lets the Valley act with impunity. Moved, Ryu Seonghan pledges loyalty beyond the soul-binding contract, and Ise accepts on condition that revenge comes first. Ise imparts cultivation advice about maintaining inner balance against grief and heart-demon tribulations. Fifteen days into their journey toward the Heavenly Ice Palace, a wandering cultivator tracks them down. Ise's warning proves prescient; after a brief spell duel, the cultivator flees with a poison pellet and Smoke Bomb but is caught by Ise's Earth Shadow Snare. The captive admits he was at Great Completion and intended to kill them, so Ise executes him and claims the spoils.
