Ise crosses from District 5 into District 4 through a wooden bridge guarded by a token-checking sentry who warns him that murder is forbidden within the district. After learning he needs a Heart Art manual to enter District 3, Ise attempts to gather information but finds the demonic cultivators terrified of him, scattering at his approach. He eventually catches one with an Earth Shadow Snare and learns about the Demon-Mind Armband system - colored cloths indicating each cultivator's heart demon type. The blue-arbanded cultivator explains that black means murder, red means bloodsucking, and so on. At a nearby inn, a yellow-arbanded patron tells him the proprietor is upstairs practicing dual cultivation, then warns him about the green-arbanded Corrupted near the eastern wall of District 4. Following this guidance, Ise enters the Village of the Corrupted, discovering rotting figures with crushed spiritual roots, including mortals who should not have been affected by demonic arts.
