Ise refines a general antidote using all ten Spiritual Stones while Seolryeong watches. After completing it, he tells her to buy a gift in case they are invited by a senior cultivator. Seven days later, exactly as Seolryeong predicted, they locate a shabby mountain keeper's hut that conceals a cultivator's cave abode. Ise playfully poses as a fortune-teller, reading Seolryeong's fortune for a coin. Inside, they wait from dawn to dusk. Seolryeong produces a Message Talisman from Hong Sadeuk to signal headquarters if they do not return, and they resolve to confront the occupant directly. Ise knocks; the door opens, a projectile spirit artifact strikes his unprotected hand, and a burst of spiritual energy follows. Through the smoke, they see independent cultivator Kim Siwon, a man in his fifties, who demands they address him as Senior and questions how they found his hidden abode. Ise explains they are Order entry disciples and offer cooperation in exchange for silence about the cave.
