Ise confronts the independent cultivator he has been hunting, using his demon-hunter instinct to recognize the man from a portrait sketch. The cultivator, around thirty with narrow eyes and a mole above his left upper lip, feigns friendliness and proposes a trade for a defensive spirit artifact. Ise plays along, asking about the artifact's nature and budget. The cultivator pitches the Yellow Great Parasol shield for three hundred Spiritual Stones, and they agree to meet tomorrow at the Haeun Inn near the Great Exorcist Order outpost. During a handshake, Ise transfers Lingering-Scent Powder onto the cultivator's hand, only to realize moments later that the cultivator had simultaneously marked his own shoulder. Realizing both parties share tracking items, Ise kicks open the tavern door and sprints away via Dokkaebi Steps as the killer's scent begins to flee.
