Chapter 32

Following a successful but chaotic scouting mission, the company commander of the 'Gray Hound' unit—a tenacious independent company of the Aspen Duchy—is left frustrated by the breach in his camp's defenses. Despite the infiltration by Naurillia creatures that set the camp on fire, the commander resolves to hunt down the unknown scout leader responsible. Meanwhile, Enkrid and his surviving squad members—Andrew, Mac, and Enri—return to the main camp. The scout platoon leader is bewildered by the squad's survival and the improbable nature of their success, which Enkrid attributes to luck. As they walk back, Enkrid reflects on his role as a knight and the weight of responsibility for the five comrades who died during the mission. Upon arriving at the barracks, the group finds chaos unfolding; a fight has broken out between Rem and Ragna Zaun in front of the troublemakers' barracks.
