Meanwhile, the captain of the Gray Hound company observes the fog lifting and orders his men to attack the Naurillia Kingdom's rear to aid their allies. On the front lines, Encrid is severely wounded by spears and crossbow bolts, fighting desperately with a broken sword. He engages in a tense dialogue with a mustached enemy soldier, refusing to give up because of his duty as a Squad Leader and his comrades, Rem and Ragna. Just as the mustached soldier prepares a fatal blow, a black panther with blue eyes—the same beast Encrid encountered previously—intervenes. The panther skillfully disables the enemy's crossbowmen and drags the wounded Encrid away to safety. As they are pursued by the mustached soldier, the platoon leader, Vengeance, arrives with reinforcements to rescue Encrid, successfully breaking the enemy's momentum.
