Chapter 315 — Got Dropped in a Ghost Story, Still Gotta Work — Part 2
Chapter 315
In a dark Courthouse, the protagonist finds themselves undergoing a selection process judged by the dead agents of Sekwang Metropolitan City. These jurors, appearing as gruesome, deceased figures, testify against him: one accuses him of being a criminal who ignores addicts; another claims he should be executed for failing to prevent suicides; and a third, a charred agent, accuses him of arson. The protagonist experiences intense, traumatic psychic feedback from these accusations, feeling the immense guilt and grief the dead agents carried. Agent Bronze (Ryu Jaekwan) interrupts to challenge the validity of these testimonies, proposing they use the 'Scales of Evil' according to original regulations—weighing the subject against 'Unmotivated Murder'—to determine if the candidate is truly evil. Assistant Manager Eun Haje (Eun Haje) attempts to argue that the current trial is a distorted version of Bureau principles, suggesting the original rules were designed to prioritize those who are least dangerous. She is silenced by the court. Agent Bronze maintains his stance to protect agents from bearing sole responsibility for impossible choices. The protagonist, deciding to testify for himself, argues that since the Sekwang branch no longer exists, there is no official duty to rescue, and asks to be judged solely by the original Scales of Evil. The strategy works; the protagonist places the 'Unmotivated Murder' weight on the scales, and the scale tilts in their favor, granting a 'Pass.' However, just as relief sets in, Juror No. 1—a mysterious agent with an invisible face—rises to object. The Juror claims the protagonist is an empty shell who has offloaded his actual sins and twisted desires into his 'contamination Cleanup' tattoo, suggesting the true self remains hidden within the tattoo.
