Chapter 337

Kim Soleum discovers that Ryu Jaekwan has been reverted to his high school student self, having been assimilated into the Sekwang Special City ghost story. To ensure his safety, Kim provides Ryu with a public bike, food, water, and an umbrella, while instructing him to avoid crowds and only listen for Disaster Alerts. While traveling toward Sekwang Technical High School, Kim raids a convenience store for supplies and warns the part-timer of the spreading biochemical terror. Upon arriving at the school, they discover the students are in a comatose state, protected by talismans set up by Team Leader Hong. Kim notices Ryu shows a fleeting, unconscious recognition of the talisman symbols. As they are approached by mutated, merged security guards and a massive, placid crowd of residents, Kim and Ryu flee. Kim encounters the Counselor (Ho Yuwon's true form), who is attempting to investigate a mutated security guard. The Counselor's arm becomes stuck and begins to melt into the creature; Kim heroically rescues the Counselor by snatching him away on his bike, despite the immense weight and mental strain. They escape to a sparsely populated area near the school's mountain. Because the Counselor's arm is dissolving, Kim performs an emergency amputation using a tool set, a task Ryu Jaekwan stubbornly assists with despite his terror. After the procedure, the Counselor asks for a ride to the station to attempt to end the Disaster, unaware that the cycle is destined to repeat. Recognizing a chance to bring Ryu into the fold, Kim claims to be an Agent of the Supernatural Disaster Management Bureau and promises to protect Ryu until he safely escapes the Disaster.
