Chapter 17 — I Picked Up a Grimoire and Became a Wizard

Chapter 17

Chapter 17 opens in a secondhand bookstore where a clerk yawns before a group of intruders, led by an intellectual-looking Chief Kim and the chairman's daughters, barges in and orders a search for a grimoire. The scene shifts to the Sacred Maiden Convent in Finland, where the white-silver-haired saintess Elsea summons the angel Raziel, who commands 'Kill Yo-han' before Elsea bewilderedly asks where Korea is. Meanwhile, in a dark cemetery, the necromancer Edward Coffin raises an army of zombies with ritual incantations and calls out to the grimoire Lemegeton, constructing a grotesque Tower of Babel from corpses as a mating display. Shin Si-on and a female Special Operations recruit witness the scene; Si-on explains that grimoires choose their masters by personal preference, not force. The chapter ends with Yo-han browsing a bazaar stall, where a clumsy clerk repeatedly spills drinks on him; after a moment of hesitation about the dangers of owning a grimoire, he decides to purchase the Solomon book.
