Chapter 61 — I Picked Up a Grimoire and Became a Wizard
Chapter 61
In a café on a weekday afternoon, Soo-ah tells the protagonist she skips school whenever she feels like it. She asks him to explain the difference between wizards, exorcists, and shamans, using a squatter-in-a-house analogy. He explains that shamans persuade the anomaly, while exorcists and wizards force it out, sometimes enslaving it. After his lesson, he announces he has a Ghostbuster client appointment and she tags along as his assistant. At the client's apartment, they find mold on the wall shaped like The Scream. The trembling female client wonders if it is paranormal. The protagonist recognizes it as ordinary mold, cleans it with a wet mop and mold remover, and Soo-ah helps by wiping his sweat and handing him a hair dryer to dry the wall. The client, convinced by the performance, thanks him and pays. Outside, Soo-ah calls the case kind of a scam, then provocatively asks why he doesn't release ghosts into people's homes for profit. He refuses, explaining his philosophy: he only takes requests he can handle and doesn't manufacture trouble. She accepts his answer and asks him to continue teaching her magic, discussing whether talent is required. He compares magic to winning a race, and she declares that using magic still counts as winning with her own strength. He awards her one wizard point. She asks what she gets at ten points; he replies she gets to feel good. Amused, he considers giving her his notebook of compiled magic knowledge if she collects enough points.
