After agreeing on a price of three gold coins—pure gold fetched by a Gnome—he steps outside the Cathedral's barrier to meet the delivery courier, a crow familiar that collects the coin and flies off. Back inside, he encounters Shin Clan retainers in black suits who convey an elder's request to meet. Yo-han declines; they withdraw politely. He later asks Lee Mun-ryong about the Shin Clan and Shin Do-ryong before returning to the Cathedral living quarters. There, Namgung Soo-ah is watching over the orphaned children. Yo-han offers to make pancakes, impressing Soo-ah and the kids, including a five-year-old girl who asks if he has a home. He answers quietly and continues cooking.
