He shares his dream of traveling every continent. The conversation shifts to cultivation sects and demonic sects like Cheoryang Thunder Gate, and the two exchange friendly banter about friendship and meal buddies. The scene then transitions to the second test, where Chief Examiner Kang I-tae announces the creation of spiritual roots. He explains the Mandate of Heaven and the Crane Bird's role, calls forward those with spiritual roots, and examines the preselected candidates. When it is Ise's turn, the Crane Bird pierces his heart, but instead of a spiritual root, demonic qi erupts. Kang I-tae strikes lightning-fast, pressing his sword to Ise's throat and accusing him of being a demonic sect spy.
