The pair descend Cheongsan toward Namsangol during the Third Day Festival, navigating crowded market streets filled with food stalls. At a dumpling tavern, Ise pays the auntie tavern keeper with a Misfortune-Warding Talisman instead of coins, explaining its karmic benefits to Seolryeong. They then visit the Great Exorcist Order outpost, where external affiliate Hong Sadeuk greets them and dismisses the servants. Hong Sadeuk presents a sick guesthouse broker suffering from demonic qi exposure. Ise and Seolryeong question the old man about the bamboo forest and a black ghost attack, concluding that the oversized bamboo grove is likely an undiscovered demon, which would earn them an additional reward upon capture.
