Ise receives his weekly allocation of spirit artifacts and Spiritual Stones from his assigned senior Park Gangseo, who explains how to use the Purification Staff and Demon-Sealing Talisman Book. He then visits the Training Compound Administration Office, where a Foundation Establishment cultivator at the notice board informs him that few assignments are available early in the year. Ise selects the only remaining assignment—an evil-spirit elimination at Namsangol for Hajin Guesthouse—and seeks a Shaman applicant. He asks Seolryeong, who initially resists but eventually agrees on the condition that he help her with her own cultivation. The pair travel to Cheongsan City's hidden merchant street, where Seolryeong introduces Ise to Hyeon-ong, an old artifact merchant, who offers spirit artifact explanations for a fee.
