Following Geuma's peaceful suicide, Ise and Seolryeong grieve briefly before deciding to strip Kim Siwon's cave abode of its spoils. Ise reveals he already looted the corpse while Seolryeong was crying, then they divide the haul: she takes thirty Spiritual Stones for a shape-shifting saber artifact, and he keeps the rest. Ise confirms he broke through to the third star of Qi Condensation during the battle, deepening Seolryeong's exasperation at his unfair talent. After handing the demonic cultivation manuals to the Great Exorcist Order and receiving treatment and supplies from Hong Sadeuk at Namsangol outpost, the pair travel to Cheongsan City. There they visit spirit-artifact merchant Hyun Woonja, who appraises Ise's sickle-shaped artifact only to reveal it is merely a multipurpose cooking cleaver worth five Spiritual Stones — Ise had effectively been swindled out of thirty. Amused despite himself, Ise accepts the loss as fate.
