After recovering from the Infant-Cry Dragon Horse ambush, Ise is taught by Mongryeon how to use spirit artifacts to release the slain demon's lingering resentment and conduct a memorial rite for the fallen dokkaebi children. Moved by the ritual and the temple's kindness, Ise departs for the Great Exorcist Order entrance exam, receiving farewell gifts including the Vein-Severing Blade and a Spiritual Stone from the temple's dokkaebi residents. Upon returning to Subu Village, he discovers his family's graves have been moved and finds Wiseong's note. Wiseong explains he sold Ise's leftover belongings and returned the proceeds along with a Burial Map, revealing that the village's fear once drove ruffians to oppose helping the orphan. Ise bows in gratitude and continues on his journey.
