He visits a talisman shop where the owner tries to sell him overpriced, fake goods before recommending a 'Great Success on the Exam' talisman. After registering at the Great Exorcist Order registration office—copying an oath and receiving his token—he checks into a clean inn. There he encounters Hae Unchan, a boisterous bronzed boy who also orders massive amounts of food. The two become reluctant meal buddies, with Ise devouring dish after dish while the innkeeper and other diners stare in horror. The next day, refreshed and well-fed, Ise climbs Cheongsan's peak to the entrance exam waiting hall, where over a thousand applicants have gathered. The chief examiner Kang I-tae arrives to great awe, announcing the seven-day trial begins with simply passing through the training academy's main gate.
