Despite the danger, the squad—driven by the allure of points—accepts the assignment. They travel to the 17th floor, the research hub for new Darkness. There, they meet Kwak Jaekang, a cheerful Section Chief from Research Team 1. Lee Jaheon explains that Research Team 1 identifies new Darkness for D-squad to explore. A researcher from the team approaches Kim, attempting to place a bet on whether their next mission is D-Class or F-Class, much to Kim's bewilderment at the unprofessional gambling environment.
