Chapter 4 — I Picked Up a Grimoire and Became a Wizard

Chapter 4

Chapter 4 opens with Kim Yo-han studying the De Vermis Mysteriis grimoire at his desk, taking notes on planetary magic theory—Wednesday belongs to Mercury, Thursday to Jupiter—and realizing that spell selection, planetary hours, and sunrise timing all matter. The grimoire displays spell titles such as Magic to Find Stolen Items and Magic to Succeed at Fraud. Yo-han calls to his Vampire Grizzly, who brings a food bowl; the familiar's Gyaa cries signal hunger, reminding Yo-han that he must earn money to cover the vampire's large meals. He also reflects on hiding his connection to a professor's murder and a university-district killing, noting that government agencies might investigate him since he was present at both scenes. The chapter then shifts to a Special Operations Division conference room, where brutal murder footage is shown. Unnamed civil servants murmur in fear and speculation before Shin Si-on takes the podium. She explains that the incident may be connected to a Grimoire—specifically the Vatican's Book of Angel Raziel, whose whereabouts are unknown—and describes how powerful Grimoires seek compatible owners through inherited keepsakes or old bookstores. The meeting concludes with the judgment that this is likely a Rampage case involving a Grimoire user.
