Chapter 26

The narrator, having recently revealed his identity as a regressor to Oh Dok-seo, enjoys a more relaxed dynamic with her, no longer needing to feign his cold exterior. Their journey to Gangnam is interrupted by Ten Legs, a monstrous caretaker of the abandoned apartments who guards the area with suspicion. While Oh Dok-seo panics, citing the creature's terrifying regenerative abilities and the need for an army to defeat it, the narrator casually employs a technique he dubs 'Secret Technique, Octopus Sashimi.' By slicing the creature faster than its regeneration can heal it, he dismantles its defenses and defeats it with mere strikes, causing the surrounding buildings to collapse. Oh Dok-seo, witnessing this effortless victory, realizes her own power is insufficient and disbands her carefully constructed party to focus on supporting him instead. This decision provides the narrator a pretext to part ways with Go Yuri. When Go Yuri learns of the disbandment, she expresses disappointment but accepts the master-disciple bond between the narrator and Dok-seo as inviolable. She bids them farewell with a graceful bow and walks away, though neither she nor the narrator see her return, suggesting she vanished or departed in another direction. Afterward, the narrator and Dok-seo travel through a lawless Korea, where the Saintess's influence no longer protects civilians from looting and violence. Dok-seo mentions reading a web novel titled 'Omniscient Regressor's Viewpoint' that had only thirty chapters when the Seoul Gate broke. They adopt a stray dog named Darkness and later flee a guild patrol in a department store. Later, Dok-seo theorizes that her ability to read the novel is actually 'Prophecy,' allowing her to perceive the narrator's future through the serialized story. The narrator realizes this is accurate: Dok-seo is effectively living five thousand years behind the timeline of the 'novel,' reading about events as they happen in his present. As the cycles progress beyond the 555th, the novel adds chapters in real-time. Dok-seo leaves frequent 'comments' on the narrator's actions—critiquing his alliances, his use of the SG Net, and his personality. When she reads up to the cycle where he founded the Sixth International Convenience Store, her perception of him shifts from curiosity to seeing him as a 'psycho.' The narrator accepts this, finding a strange comfort in being followed by her, realizing their shared hope for a connected world is being fulfilled as she catches up to his past.
