Chapter 271 The dark mage, Choi Ji-won, and a group of players wait outside a cave as the mage reveals a massive Ice Dragon frozen at the mountain's summit. The mage explains the dragon was once a benevolent gold dragon that turned blue after swallowing something it shouldn't have, causing it to lose its intelligence and slowly die from its own power. As the dragon shakes off its icy shell, the group realizes the sheer pressure and lethal cold it emits. Choi Ji-won assesses the dragon's aura and confirms it is too aggressive to fight at close range. The dark mage notes that the dragon's heart is gripped by a seal demon, preventing it from leaving the mountain. The Captain panics about the village below being buried in snow and questions why they cannot simply release the seal, but the mage refuses, fearing it could unleash other trapped climbers. The group discusses ranged attacks and traps, acknowledging the dragon's immense baseline stats despite its lack of intelligence. The protagonist considers a method with decent odds to defeat the beast. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Sign in for Free access. 9:38
Chapter 272 Kim Jun-ho, Choi Ji-won, and the dark mage plan to kill a dragon. The Italian player and other climbers join, demanding a guaranteed share. Jun-ho rallies a warrior village of 250 people to activate his Hero trait, gaining immense power and a glowing aura. Ji-won notes his raw strength surpasses her Heart of Lightning Flash but doubts she could beat him in a sword fight. The dark mage summons a red hand to catapult Jun-ho and Ji-won toward the dragon. Jun-ho attacks but arrives too fast, striking the dragon with his forehead instead of his sword. He takes damage and regresses to the start of Floor 27. Ji-won asks why he looks like that, and Jun-ho realizes he must first master the Hero trait's power. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Sign in for Free access. 10:03
Chapter 273 The chapter opens with a researcher testing a player's 'sharpening' trait, followed by clips of online content exploring various traits. Kim Jun-ho reflects on trait mechanics, realizing the Hero trait is a multiplier rather than an additive power. He then engages in a grueling training session against a massive Ice Dragon, repeatedly failing due to his body's inability to keep up with his mana output. Choi Ji-won guides him through the dragon's predictable patterns, and they eventually coordinate a strike to blind the beast. However, upon wounding it, Jun-ho realizes the dragon's death would release catastrophic freezing energy, making victory impossible without mutual destruction. He resolves to find another way to avoid losing Ji-won, recalling a past option involving an elixir. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Sign in for Free access. 9:07
Chapter 274 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won decide to attempt healing the Ice Dragon by feeding it an elixir, accepting that failure means giving up. They successfully throw the bottle into the dragon's mouth and wait as it collapses. When the dragon regains its intelligence, it immediately commits suicide out of overwhelming guilt and despair over its past actions. The black mage explains that the dragon's madness was caused by swallowing something it shouldn't have, which triggered the Tower's creation. The Captain angrily confronts the black mage for his failed plan, but the mage calmly admits his methods were flawed and reveals his true motive: revenge against his own clan, whom he reveals are actually his descendants trapped within the ward. The mage laughs at his own twisted logic and the futility of his efforts, leaving Jun-ho to walk away as the villagers arrive to investigate the now-empty wooden building. Chapter 275 Choi Ji-won and Kim Jun-ho enter Floor 27, where Jun-ho's expression immediately collapses upon regression, signaling an unpleasant outcome he deliberately chose not to remember. Inside a log cabin, Jun-ho greets the group and explains to Ji-won that he used a reward elixir on his Vitality stat rather than saving it, downplaying the event's severity. Ji-won senses his hidden distress but trusts his judgment. After clearing the floor, Jun-ho reflects on the dark mage's tragic, morally ambiguous fate and the hollow nature of the victory. He contacts Grim Reaper to check on two previously warned villains, receiving confirmation of their inactivity. Ji-won returns and shows Jun-ho a message from Park Cheol-jin inviting them for a drink, shifting the mood toward a brief respite. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Chapter 276 Park Cheol-jin reunites with Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won at a barbecue restaurant, sharing stories about his firefighter life and why he stopped climbing the Tower after Floor 3. Fans and bystanders recognize Choi Ji-won, prompting an apology from the restaurant owner. The group then visits the Steel Guild office, where Kang Chan greets them. Steel Guild members excitedly ask for photos and insist on drinking, turning the meeting into a lively party. Park Cheol-jin brings more people, including female players, to join. After the drinking session, Jun-ho and Ji-won step out to a stairwell for a private conversation. Ji-won admits she reached out to Park Cheol-jin because she worried about Jun-ho's mental state. He explains that he learned of their location through social media and wishes to share a story before asking a final question. The narrative then shifts to Zetter's memories of his life before the Tower, highlighting his reputation as an efficient, eccentric, and deeply trusted soldier. Flashbacks feature various acquaintances recalling his odd habits, unwavering reliability, and patriotic nature. The story transitions to the First Tutorial, where Zetter and 200 Americans are summoned. Amidst civilian panic, Zetter steps up to lead, using his SSS Adaptation trait to survive and fight goblins, realizing his potential to clear the Tower alone. Chapter 278 The chapter opens with unnamed Tutorial players discussing the high survival rate and the dangers of overconfidence. Michael Zetter confronts the Goblin Shaman and Minotaur, volunteering to hold off the Minotaur so others can escape through a portal. The Empress interrupts, claiming the Minotaur for herself, and swiftly kills the Shaman to open the portal, forcing the players to flee while she engages the monster. Zetter and the Empress both survive and later report to their superiors. Zetter realizes the Tower's events are real after receiving a donut box from the Empress, prompting him to build influence and establish the Player Association. It then chronicles Zetter's rise as a celebrated figure among climbers, highlighting his leadership on Floors 3 and 4. Accompanied by the prophet Mahesh, Zetter enters Floor 5, where he faces a doppelgänger trial that forces him to push his Adaptation trait to its absolute limit, fundamentally altering his perception of time and emotion. Chapter 280 Zetter delivers a candid monologue to Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won, revealing that his Adaptation trait has left his emotions faded and his perception of time slowed. He admits to losing faith in his own leadership and questions whether sacrificing one innocent person to save the world is justified. Kim Jun-ho firmly rejects the premise, asserting that they would find another way, which brings Zetter unexpected relief. Convinced that the pair are the best hope for reaching the Tower's summit, Zetter resolves to step down as Association president and promises future support before teleporting away. Kim Jun-ho and Ji-won reflect on the encounter, feeling a newfound closeness to the leader. They return to the Steel Guild office, where they encounter Kang Chan, who has dropped his usual stoic facade to clean up drunk people. Kang Chan awkwardly offers them cup ramen and asks for kimchi, signaling a rare moment of trust and camaraderie among the three. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Jun-ho browses online forums, reading posts about the Tower, Regression, and the struggles of ordinary people versus players. He feels irritation at ignorant comments but reflects on his gratitude for his trait and the strong, good-hearted people around him, including Ji-won, Michael Zetter, and the Empress. They discuss their upcoming preparations for the catastrophe, their work-life balance, and their mutual affection, ending the night with a promise to protect each other and climb the Tower together. Chapter 282 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won carefully replicate their previous cycle's actions during a team dinner, maintaining focus on Michael Zetter's promise and contribution ranking strategy. They proceed to clear Floor 27 and enter Floor 28, a sci-fi Colosseum where fighters compete for ranking and rewards. Upon waking in the waiting room, Jun-ho is kicked by a bald giant and questioned by shaggy yeti-like warriors. After learning the Colosseum's rules from the locals, a registration drone guides him through a star-filled corridor past various non-human spectators. He enters a dirt-floored arena alone, expecting a standard match, but is stunned when his opponent turns out to be Choi Ji-won, breaking his carefully maintained cycle. Chapter 283 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won enter the Colosseum arena and immediately decide to forfeit their first match to avoid penalties and gather information. They coordinate with a nervous Colosseum angel drone, Jake, to void the match by both forfeiting simultaneously. Afterward, they regroup in the massive waiting room, where they discuss the Colosseum's sci-fi setting, betting system, and standard equipment. They encounter shaggy creatures who speak an unfamiliar language, which Jun-ho understands via a player perk. Jun-ho then fights a mechanical opponent in a quick victory and reunites with Ji-won. They examine a ranking board and notice numerous top players, including The Emperor and Michael Zetter, have zero recent activity. Jun-ho deduces that these players are 'camping the spot' to maintain their ranks, revealing a strategic loophole in the Colosseum's ranking system. Chapter 284 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won analyze the Colosseum's ranking system, concluding it uses a point-based matchmaking rating with gradual decay for inactivity rather than outright demotion. Jun-ho explains that the Empress likely wiped out over half the original rankers, creating a vacuum that allowed new climbers to rise quickly. He notes Michael Zetter's rapid fall to rank 300 after hitting rank 100, contrasting him with other players who remain at high ranks, possibly due to extreme combat dedication. Jun-ho realizes they must attract fighters to raise their score efficiently, planning to use bait and disguise his strength to avoid scaring opponents away. Their discussion is interrupted by Jake, a flamboyant newcomer with distinctive gold-capped teeth and chains, who approaches them with a proposal. Chapter 285 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won encounter a suspicious registered fighter named Jake in the Colosseum. Jake, who sports a sleazy grin and gold teeth, introduces himself and attempts to strike up a conversation, offering information in exchange for avoiding his fight time slots. Choi Ji-won is openly hostile toward him, noting his bad reputation as the "Newbie Lover," but Kim Jun-ho decides to listen. Jake reveals he has watched their fight footage and proposes a cooperative arrangement to protect his win streak. He then drops a shocking piece of information: the legendary healing potion, the Elixir, can be purchased from the Colosseum's management. While Choi Ji-won confirms the Elixir's existence, Kim Jun-ho grows increasingly uneasy about Jake's overly helpful demeanor and suspiciously perfect acting. Concluding that Jake is deliberately steering them toward the Elixir, Kim Jun-ho confronts him directly, accusing him of being an angel and demanding he remove his baggy clothes to reveal his wings. The protagonist correctly guesses the angel's identity and motive, realizing Jake has broken protocol to leak critical information. After Jake departs, the protagonist enters the Colosseum to climb the rankings, effortlessly defeating numerous unnamed opponents while drawing both admiration and hostility from other top-tier players. As his rank surges, he faces matchmaking evasion from rivals avoiding him. Chapter 287 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won discuss the recent death of a Brazilian player who fought a rank 270 beastman. Ji-won explains that the beastman, who had slipped in rank due to inactivity, accepted the challenge and executed the Brazilian player despite his surrender, displaying a cruel and deliberate malice. Jun-ho watches the poorly recorded footage, noting the beastman's strange appearance and his ability to instantly heal injuries by swallowing a potion. The pair agree that gathering intelligence on this dangerous wildcard is their top priority until a match is officially scheduled. Three days later, they learn that a second player has died, confirming the beastman is specifically targeting humans. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Chapter 288 Kim Jun-ho reflects on how regression dulls his attachment to money, items, and even lives, except for Choi Ji-won. He and Ji-won attempt to find opponents in the Colosseum to earn money for information on the 'Human Slaughterer,' a beastman who refuses to meet anyone. Their attempts to hide their strength backfire when the Colosseum's drones detect they are holding back, causing everyone to avoid them. Frustrated by the lack of profitable fights and the high stakes of competing for the Empress's rank, Jun-ho realizes they must force a connection with the beastman. He proposes creating a concept of 'loving beastmen way too much' to make the creature take notice, planning to regress if this fails. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Chapter 289 Kim Jun-ho deliberately cultivates a bizarre public persona as a beastman enthusiast to gain fame, money, and attention from the Human Slaughterer. He approaches a female beastman, affectionately stroking her fur and declaring his love for animals, which flusters her and sparks rumors of his twisted romantic preferences. Bystanders spread exaggerated tales of him targeting beastmen and impregnating a noble, which Choi Ji-won angrily denies upon hearing the gossip. Despite the distorted reputation, the strategy works: Jun-ho wins fights without harming opponents, handing out drinks to beastmen and boosting his popularity. He eventually attracts the attention of the Human Slaughterer, who kills a Brazilian player nearby. Angel Jake approaches Jun-ho with a proposal, and after confirming the slaughterer's presence, Jun-ho prepares to use his newfound wealth to buy information. Chapter 290 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won navigate a corridor crowded with beastmen and alien races, where a female bird beastman aggressively flirts with Jun-ho, prompting a brief but firm exchange between the couple about boundaries. Once alone, they review a costly Colosseum information file on the notorious fighter Guntar. The report details his 71 wins using diverse martial arts, his annual matches, and a confidential, fatal-looking clash with the Empress that left him severely weakened. Jun-ho reflects on past cycles where he failed to gather intel by asking generic wolf beastmen, realizing shared origin is the key. He successfully locates a cat beastman from Guntar's home planet, who agrees to share details about the slaughterer's tragic transformation. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Chapter 291 Kim Jun-ho meets a male cat beastman in a rented cafe to gather information about Guntar. The beastman explains that Guntar, a wolf beastman known as the Heavenly Demon, has been killing humans indiscriminately, which is out of character for his former self. He reveals that Guntar no longer recognizes him, suggesting severe memory loss. After the meeting, Choi Ji-won joins Jun-ho, and they discuss the implications of the memory loss, questioning whether it alone could cause such a drastic personality shift. Jun-ho deduces that the Colosseum is actively cooperating with Guntar, which is why they cannot simply force their way in. To bypass this, Jun-ho plans to use his regression knowledge to create a public spectacle. A beastman enthusiast loudly promotes a fake 'Elixir' to cure Guntar's madness, successfully drawing the massive Colosseum crowd's attention and creating the necessary pressure to force a meeting with the slaughterer. Chapter 292 Colosseum Management sends an android envoy to deliver a strict contract: deliver medicine to Guntar and leave immediately. The protagonist and Choi Ji-won sign and follow the android through a long corridor to Guntar's unmodified, dark quarters. Guntar, curled in a corner, aggressively demands they leave. Ji-won attempts to reason with him about his lost memories and killings, but he panics and attacks when the protagonist mentions angels. The protagonist administers a Lesser Elixir, which restores Guntar's physical health but fails to restore his memories or soul integrity. Realizing an angel is involved, the protagonist mutters about confronting Jake. Enraged by the mention of an angel, Guntar instantly steals the protagonist's sword and strikes his jaw, triggering a regression. After returning to the start of Floor 28, the protagonist reflects on Jake's mysterious reputation while an unnamed regressor approaches him to speak privately. Chapter 293 Kim Jun-ho confronts Jake, a Colosseum angel on Floor 28, demanding to know what happened to the wolf beastman Guntar. Jake initially denies involvement and hides his angelic identity, but relents when Jun-ho flashes a ring given by Archangel Raphael. Jake explains that the Empress's ruthless dominance shattered the Colosseum's competitive balance, killing off top fighters and lowering the difficulty. With the responsible archangel missing, the angels tried to restore balance by reviving Guntar and implanting the soul of the Heavenly Demon into his body. However, the gamble backfired, as the resurrected Heavenly Demon proved far more dangerous than intended, threatening the very structure the angels were trying to maintain. Chapter 294 Kim Jun-ho questions angel Jake about the Heavenly Demon, a terrifying entity whose soul was implanted into the beastman Guntar. Jake explains that Guntar was originally a martial artist who inherited the Heavenly Demon's knowledge, but the angels replaced his body with the demon's soul to create a Colosseum fighter. They layered a sane personality and Guntar's memories on top, but an error wiped his memories and weakened his talent. When the Empress attacked Guntar, the Heavenly Demon's personality took over to survive, resulting in a draw. Now, the demon's consciousness is slowly awakening and will fully take over in three months, likely leading to a massacre of players. Jake reveals he is here to ask the players to find an Elixir to contact the Archangel and stop the disaster. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Sign in for Free access. 11:04
Chapter 295 Jake, the Colosseum angel, reveals to Kim Jun-ho that Floor 28 holds a hidden Elixir reward, which triggers an Archangel's personal inspection. To prevent the awakening Heavenly Demon from slaughtering all climbers, Jake explains his indirect intervention: leaking the Elixir's existence to force a top-tier reward acquisition. He manipulates the Colosseum's ranking system, provides detailed opponent analysis files, and places bets under Jun-ho's name to rapidly climb his rank. Jun-ho carefully selects opponents to avoid regression, eventually reaching rank 1 and claiming the Intermediate Elixir. The chapter shifts to the Colosseum arena where Jun-ho, now known as the Immortal Sage, faces Choi Ji-won in a rigged match designed to secure his victory. After winning and obtaining the Elixir, Jun-ho and Ji-won celebrate, but three months later, the Archangel fails to return. The Heavenly Demon fully awakens, unleashing overwhelming killing intent, leaving Jun-ho and Ji-won isolated and facing certain death as Jun-ho prepares to fight again using his regression ability. Chapter 296 Kim Jun-ho regresses to the start of Floor 28, leveraging his knowledge to rapidly climb the Colosseum rankings with the help of the angel Jake. After securing an Elixir and reaching the top 100, he requests Jake's assistance for his partner Choi Ji-won, who also advances quickly. Once the floor is cleared, Jun-ho and Ji-won review their findings: the Archangel is absent, Jake has vanished, and the Heavenly Demon Guntar is growing exponentially stronger. Recognizing that direct combat is impossible against the fully awakened demon, they devise a strategy to strike during his initial grace period. Ji-won volunteers to face the demon first, citing her superior strength and lack of regression penalty. After finalizing their countermeasures and sharing a brief, intimate moment, Jun-ho regresses to execute the plan, leaving Ji-won to fight the Heavenly Demon. Chapter 297 Kim Jun-ho spends three regression cycles persuading Jake, the anxious Colosseum angel, to allow Choi Ji-won to challenge Heavenly Demon Guntar. After Jake stubbornly refuses to let another archangel interfere with Floor 28's affairs, Jun-ho fabricates dream visions of the Colosseum's destruction to convince him. Jake eventually agrees, confirming Ji-won as the next opponent. In the quiet arena, Ji-won and Guntar clash, with Ji-won initially pushed back by the demon's heavy, precise swordsmanship. She counters by activating Heart of Lightning Flash, shifting the momentum and forcing Guntar into a defensive stance. Guntar adapts rapidly, but Ji-won's genius allows her to outmaneuver him, drawing blood and prompting Guntar to acknowledge her skill. The demon then switches to a whip and dagger, declaring he will show her the respect she deserves as the fight intensifies. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Chapter 298 Kim Jun-ho watches Choi Ji-won fight the Heavenly Demon Guntar in the Colosseum. Guntar wields a whip and dagger in perfect harmony, but Ji-won finds a tactical gap by maintaining a precise distance. Despite taking heavy damage and running out of mana from Heart of Lightning Flash, she endures. Guntar reveals his tragic backstory, explaining how his martial arts mastery and hatred for humanity drove him to kill all humans until he was on the verge of transcending his species before dying. He declares Ji-won the cornerstone of his new ascension and overwhelms her. After regressing to the start of Floor 28, a determined Ji-won excitedly tells Jun-ho that she has figured out how to win and believes his Chill and Regression abilities are enough to defeat Guntar. Chapter 299 Kim Jun-ho and Choi Ji-won analyze the recent battle against the Heavenly Demon to find a way to defeat him. Jun-ho initially suggests that the demon's goal is to prolong the fight to grow stronger, meaning they must kill him instantly. Ji-won corrects him, arguing the demon is not growing but reclaiming his original power, and that his speed of recovery is far faster than Jun-ho realizes. She theorizes that the demon was deliberately holding back, switching weapons to balance his increasing physical strength with weaker techniques. Ji-won points out two anomalies: a near-fatal wound the demon barely dodged, and a repeated opening he failed to exploit. She concludes the demon is constrained by his inability to reuse techniques fluently, forcing him to cycle through weapons. Finally, she reveals why Jun-ho must be the one to fight: his unique chill cannot be resisted by the demon's mana, making it the only guaranteed counter to the demon's constraints. Chapter 300 Choi Ji-won and Kim Jun-ho strategize in a small room before facing the Heavenly Demon on Floor 28. Ji-won outlines three key points to investigate: the reason for the Demon's shifting weapons, the nature of his hidden power, and whether Jun-ho's chill ability affects him. Jun-ho proposes testing the first point by deliberately exposing a weakness to see how the Demon reacts. After a regression, Ji-won reports that the Demon's martial arts do not mix and he does not exploit openings, but she cannot determine why he uses so many weapons or how to force out his hidden power. Jun-ho takes on the task of figuring out the second point. Following several more regression cycles, Ji-won discovers that the Heavenly Demon never repeats the same martial art within a single cycle, suggesting a cooldown or permanent loss mechanic. Realizing they cannot simply outlast him, Jun-ho prepares to fight, acknowledging that he must master every technique to defeat the grandmaster of killing. The Heavenly Demon laughs at him, calling him a strange human, before the battle begins. Guest access includes first 36 of 359 audio chapters. Sign in for Free access. 9:18
